BETH JOLLEY
DCD Graduate- March 2010
As a 23 year old, Beth had already been through a lot. Growing up in Connecticut, her mom brought her to a Baptist church, where they attended regularly. When she was 13 years old she began to be heavily depressed and by the age of 16, she was taking prescription and illegal drugs to numb the pain. Her bad behavior got her kicked out of the house several times as her relationship with her family worsened.
When she was 20 years old, she began an unhealthy relationship with a man and eventually got pregnant. “I didn’t even want to be alive, why would I want my baby to grow up with me like that?” So Beth had her pregnancy terminated. Her depression got even worse after that and she turned to heavier drugs.
Her mom noticed this and continued to ask her to come to church. After an attempted suicide and admittance to a mental health institution, Beth agreed and started going back to church with her mother. It was there that she first heard of the Dream Center Discipleship program. Soon after, she joined the program. “I can honestly say I no longer live in depression. I can see my future in Christ,” Beth says. “I’ve been given a second chance at life.”
