After the success of the summer youth employment program hosted at the Dream Center this past year, WorkSource has extended its partnership with the Dream Center in order to give volunteers, residents and church members the opportunity to receive job training and work experience. These services are scheduled to be available until the end of September, but people who are hired have the possibility of staying employed after this date. Now, people who are living and volunteering at the Dream Center can also prepare for what lies ahead of them in a working environment.

Dream Center Workforce Development connects individuals who are facing unemployment and are struggling to get a job with the WorkSource Hollywood office. Several parents living on the family floor of the Dream Center have begun to consider their career paths. These same parents were on the brink of homelessness not too long ago. Now, they are resituating their lives and acquiring the essential tools for employment. The development program assesses their qualifications, and then refers them to WorkSource.

Military veterans will also be able to receive precedence regarding job placement. Some of the residents in the Dream Center Discipleship program can benefit from this opportunity because they have served in the armed forces. In addition to learning how to be a purposeful part of society through correctional discipline in the discipleship program, these disciples are also utilizing WorkSource to equip them for the careers that they will be skilled at.

Ultimately, the vision of Dream Center Workforce Development is to be a source for people to find employment in the midst of an economy that is straining people’s finances. The hope is to get many more residents of the Dream Center job leads through WorkSource, which has 40 centers in Los Angeles alone.
