On July 9th, Metro Kidz hosted their annual VBS event at Gilbert Lindsay Park, located in South Central, Los Angeles. Arts and crafts were set up underneath tents, which were strewn across the grassless field, and a colorful truck with drop-down stage was parked by the sidewalk for a Sidewalk Sunday School production. It was an unforgettable afternoon filled with an abundance of activities for the children and their families to take part in.

Vacation Bible School takes place every year and is hosted by churches throughout the country. This week, Metro Kidz traveled to the inner city of Los Angeles to bring entertainment and encouragement to families who have been facing difficult times. From painting pictures to power point presentations, everyone received something from the festivities that took place.

One woman enthusiastically thanked a Metro Kidz volunteer for coming out to Gilbert Lindsay Park. No one in attendance left the park empty-handed, as candy, water bottles and eyeglasses were given away to hundreds of people free of charge. Relationships in the community have been built as a result of Metro Kidz’ willingness to go to the same neighborhoods every week.

Distributing food and basic items to families, as well as zealously teaching the Word of God, Metro Kidz ensured that Vacation Bible School would be a memorable one this summer.
