| The Movement: Raising up the Next Generation of World Changers. A Testimony of Change.
The Movement Los Angeles is a 10-month discipleship program for young adults. It is a program dedicated to serving the Dream Center, Angelus Temple and Pastors Tommy and Matthew Barnett. The directors of the program, Aaron and Kelli Bradley, hope to instill in their students a heart that is committed to believing, fighting and always standing for a cause.
The Movement is a program that challenges each student to become world changers and to make a difference for God. Many young adults from all around the world last year journeyed to the Dream Center to take on that challenge. Some were not aware that their lives were going to be forever altered. Kelly Tapp is one of those students.
Kelly Tapp came to The Movement (formerly known as The Master’s Commission) to gain an intimacy with God and to find her calling in this world. One day while searching the web, Kelly came across the Dream Center website and that opened the door to her new destiny. At that time in her life she was going through some difficult trials, and she thought maybe this program would help her overcome those difficulties that left her in bondage.
Kelly’s first couple of months in the program were hard due to her inability to connect with others. She found herself depressed and not happy. Kelly’s heart was filled with hatred and she was not willing to open up and accept anything or anyone. She pushed people away and was very guarded. Kelly was this way because of her past and what she has been through in life. She felt rejected most of her life and she felt alone and unwanted, she was hurt physically which left her with scars, that she felt would never be healed. These pains led her to drugs and cutting herself and not trusting anyone.
Kelly was ready to let go of her past as she reached a breaking point and asked God to make her a new person and give her the strength to forgive those who caused her pain. God answered her prayers and Kelly gained a new perspective on life. She opened herself up to the situation she was placed in here at the Dream Center and truly began to serve in The Movement for God. She knows now that serving people brings so much joy to life.
Kelly has gained many different tools from being in The Movement. She has a strong relationship with God, she has many friends that have become like family, she has learned how to trust, and she has confidence in herself and others, and a hope that cannot be torn down. The past no longer defines her future. In a poem she wrote she says “ She looks to her side and she is not alone, her God is standing hand and hand with her, leaving her with no bruises, his voice no louder then a whisper, and he never lets go.” He is with her forever.
The 96 students of The Movement class of 08-09 are departing this season with their lives changed and new. They are the class of over comers. They have hope in their heart and the power in their hands to be a generation that will change the world. We wish them the best as they take on a new journey. Congratulations to The Movement Class of 08-09.
