The Mobile Medical Clinic is a blessing to many uninsured, unemployed and undermined individuals living in the metropolis districts of Los Angeles. Equipped with essential medications and much-needed physical exams, this health ministry of the Dream Center reaches over one hundred patients every, single week. The truck, which is a fully furnished doctor’s office on wheels, travels to several destinations in our city, including Long Beach, the city of Bell and Skid Row, located in downtown Los Angeles.



Thomas, who is originally from Africa, has been working with this ministry for ten years now. He has helped to manage the healthcare facility, as well as register numerous walk-ins seeking treatment. He has seen various people come through the clinic’s doors, including those with diabetes, asthma and the flu.

Others come in for tuberculosis testing or to receive free medicine. Most of the people that he interacts with are middle aged and cannot afford a visit to the doctor or to fill prescriptions at the pharmacy.

During the month of September, Thomas saw about forty people per day eager for a break from the expensive healthcare system. In addition to those living in the community, the men and women of Dream Center Discipleship are also taken care of at the Mobile Medical Clinic. Every Wednesday, this truck is at the Dream Center parking lot, giving these disciples and Dream Center volunteers the opportunity to receive medical attention without leaving the campus.

Many “free” clinics require that people have some type of insurance, or else they will not be treated. However, these people should not be turned away just because they do not have a health coverage plan. Fortunately, the Dream Center Mobile Medical Clinic does not charge its patients a single penny for their services; one qualifies for treatment only if they do not have medical insurance! That allows for a sigh of relief for many who otherwise would not know where they could see a doctor.
