Students in The Movement L.A. seek to serve and build up the local church

Each day that you visit the Dream Center or Angelus Temple, you will see students from The Movement LA serving in as many ways possible. The heartbeat of The Movement, formally known as Master’s Commission, is serving and they plug into every area of the Dream Center that they can.

A typical day for the students involves prayer, worship, group devotions, core value classes, ministry pragmatics, scripture tests, elective classes, tracks, small groups, and a group speaker.

The Movement does a variety of different things for the Dream Center. They are very involved with the different ministries such as Food Truck, Sunday School, Metro Kids, Bus Ministry, Adopt A Block, Kitchen Ministry, Prostitute Outreach, Youth Ministry, Foster Care, Music Ministry, Dream Center Academy, Human Trafficking Outreach, and much more. Those ministries are scheduled into their tracks. They also serve as greeters before church services and usher. In addition to all that, The Movement does fundraisers to raise money for the Dream Center.

“Each day we put forth effort in helping the Dream Center as much as we can because it is our heart to serve Pastor Matthew in whatever way we can,” said Heather Kumler, Director of Admissions for The Movement LA.

The Movement just recently made the switch from Masters Commission to The Movement. The Movement and Masters Commission only differ in one way. The Movement’s vision is to build up the local church in any way that they can.

The Movement has had a great positive response from their home church, Angelus Temple, also from prospective students, and other churches during the transition from Masters Commission to The Movement. Nothing has been affected in a negative way. Their transition has been a lot of hard work but not too difficult.

As of now, about 120 students will be graduating from The Movement on August 2nd. To graduate each student must commit to the ten-month program and follow all the program’s rules and guidelines, memorize around 200 scriptures, prepare and present a devotional and show growth. This program is meant to build world changers with a servant heart that will go out and really impact the church and the world.

The new session starts October 4th. You can apply at themovementla.com. Also, Sneak Peak is coming up April 23rd-26th. This is where people interested in the program can come and experience the life of The Movement for a weekend.

For students to qualify for joining The Movement they must be at least 18 years old or a high school graduate, they cannot date for the ten-month program, and no student is permitted to work at a job during the program.
