For so long my heart broke for the children in Foster Care. I tried not to look because I thought unless I could take a child in myself, there wasn’t anything I could do.
While out to lunch with my good friend Marsha Hudson I realized there is so much we can do!!
Between 50% - 70% of the 500,000 children in the Foster Care system in America have parents who love them but have lost them due to poverty. Imagine the more than 250,000 mothers that will be crying for their babies tonight, and the only thing keeping them apart are basic necessities.
In the Bible, there are more than 400 verses commanding us to reach out to the orphans, widows and the poor. There is no better way to reach out to the children than to prevent them from being orphans in the first place. As we shared this vision with the women in our church, I was so excited to find that most women have this same passion to make a difference.
I think as women we realize the desperation we would feel if we were on the verge of losing our children, when all it would take is a church filling the gap. This will be the easiest ministry to build in your church, and one of the most rewarding. To learn how to start join our club!
