Crowds began filling the lines of the
world renowned Times Square hours before the opening of
the first ever New York Dream Center.
Anticipation grew as NYDC outreach teams earnestly passed
out water bottles and fliers, inviting New Yorkers to the
American Airlines Theatre for what they were calling a "night
they would never forget". Hundreds of people drew in
from the streets, wondering exactly what the New York Dream
Center was.
As the doors opened and people raced in the entrance, a
team of "red shirts", New York's newest and greatest
volunteers, lined the long hall to the American Airlines
Theatre clapping and cheering and welcoming newcomers to
the New York Dream Center. Many had excitedly planned for
this launch for months, while others were just curious to
see just what the New York Dream Center was about.
7:00PM and the theatre is completely full... church finally
begins!
Extraordinary lights, explosive media, and phenomenal
music begins and people are blown away by the presence
of God and the amazing worship experience brought by NYDC
band, Press Play, and Coffey Anderson.
Matthew Barnett welcomed everyone and expressed his heartfelt
excitement for the new things God is about to do through
the Dream Center in the city of New York. As Joyce Meyer
graced the stage and gave a life-changing message, an
expectant crowd went wild, while newcomers were simply
blown away by the simple, lovingly blunt, and hilarious
style of Joyce.
9:00PM and the lines are full again outside for the second
service of the evening. As the first service lets out,
9:00 service guests race through the doors and experience
the same dynamic and extravagant service.
"People were in awe," said one volunteer, "a
new standard was set." The service brought a whole
new meaning to church in New York and an excited expectation
for next week.
